On 13 – 15 September 2017, a joint design workshop, collaboration between Binus University and Swinburne University of Technology, Australia had been conducted with the title of Community Based Design for Better Humanitarian Shelter. The workshop has delivered two proposed shelter, the indoor and outdoor shelters. A sharing knowledge session had also organised during the workshop. It was followed by a small exhibition to get public opinions on the proposed designs of the shelters and facilities. Two experts, Mr. Bakrie Beck from Disaster Risk Reduction and Mitigation Foundation and Mr. Andrea Fitrianto from Architecture Sans Frontiers International, have shared their experience and expertise on disaster risk reduction and mitigation including how to manage the temporary shelters for disasters. They were also involved as the external expert reviewers who reviewed the designs of the shelters proposed from the workshop. (RH).
